Our work in arts

Art plays an important role in climate change action, as artistic work can create public conversation through visualisation.

'The Place I Call Home,' is a contemporary exhibition of photography commissioned by the British Council and curated by David Drake, Director of Ffotogallery Wales, that presents the work of artists from both the United Kingdom and The Gulf, as they explore the idea of 'home' at a time of rapid change and social mobility.  The project uses lens-based media to explore the notion of 'home' as it relates to contemporary experiences of the Arabic diaspora living in the UK and British people living in The Gulf. 

Festivals are an important part of economic diversification plans in the GCC,  both as a means for developing tourism, and to provide people with access to cultural events that celebrate everything from national heritage through to sports and contemporary art.

Art-Abled is a project established by British Council's Art department to ensure that people with disabilities are provided a platform to show case their capabilities and abilities.

Our work in the arts aims to promote the UK’s diverse culture, creativity and innovation overseas. We work across the art forms and with the best of British talent to develop artistic programmes and opportunities for collaboration in Bahrain.

A series of intensive training workshops for artists, curators and cultural sector professionals, delivered on 3 modules, each for one week.
