Bahrain English Language Teaching Conference
Bahrain ELT conference is organised by British Council in collaboration with Bahrain ELT Professionals Network and the Regional English Language office at the Embassy of United States. More than 300 English teachers and educators from Bahrain and GCC countries participated in the conference for the third year.
This conference is the only high profile event that focuses on ELT in Bahrain. Local Bahraini and non-Bahraini teachers present papers at the conference and share experiences with their counterparts from the region. International key speakers are hosted to provide the opportunity to teachers to get updates about ELT from experts in the field. UK publishers participated in the conference as sponsors and provided speakers. They had the opportunity to display their latest publications in ELT at the exhibition area.
Past conferences have had the following themes:
- 8 October 2011, “ELT in the 21st Century: Issues and Challenges”. Fifteen papers and two plenaries were presented.
- 13 October 2012, “ELT: Moving from Theory to Practice”. Eighteen papers, two plenaries and one Panel discussion were presented.
- 1 March 2014, “ELT: Empowering Teachers, Empowering Learners”. Eighteen papers, two plenaries, two Special Interest Groups, one poster presentation and one case study were presented.
