The British Council in partnership with Al Riwaq Art Space cordially invites you to attend an interactive fashion discussion ''Emerging fashion designers in the Gulf'', and the role of the British Council, and projects like the International Fashion Showcase in London in promoting their work and furthering their careers.
It will highlight the recent successes of Gulf based fashion designers and British Council’s involvement in their work and promotion. The panel will include Alan Rutt the Country Director at British Council Bahrain and the Fashion Designers Hala Kaiksow and Lulwa Al Amin.

About Hala Kaiksow
Hala Kaiksow is a fashion designer from Bahrain recently graduated with a Master of Collection Design from Polimoda, in Florence, Italy. She had previously obtained a Bachelor in Fine Arts from the School of Museum of Fine Arts and Tufts University with a sculpture concentration in Metals and Glass. Through her studies she has lived in the US, France, the UK and Italy. Her concepts are often a juxtaposition of the Eastern and Western worlds she lives in.Hala the winner of the best Designer Award will talk about her successful story at the International Fashion Showcase (IFS) in London 2016.
About lULWA aL AMIN
Born and raised in Bahrain, Lulwa Al Amin moved to London and graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2009 with a BA in Textile Design. The label was set up in 2010 launching its first collection in 2011. Each collection is trend driven, yet there are elements that never change. Unique prints, quality, beautifully lined silk garments and easy to wear shapes are the foundation of each collection.

Al Riwaq is a non-profit space supporting contemporary art practice established in 1998, to promote creativity and art value providing exhibition space to emerging and established artists, both local and international.
About The Nest 2016
Running from November to December The Nest has been designed to appeal to the widest audience and includes public art, market, children’s area, workshops, live music and outdoors film screenings.The programme will balance community participation with excellence by offering events of both a local and international flavor.
