Art Therapy for Autism 

A short course for artists working with or interested in working with the autistic, delivered by Ian Wilson, Hoffman Foundation, UK.

 

The course will consist introduction to autism, and how to use arts and crafts as self-expression and skill training as a therapeutic approach to the problems of autism. In addition, exercises will be given to help artists understand the problems that autistic people have with structured learning.

This event is a continuation British Council's work in Art-Abled to ensure that children with disabilities can showcase their artistic capabilities and are given equal opportunities to contribute to the community.

 

About Ian Wilson:

Ian Wilson has more than 25 years of working and dealing with autism and autistic people in a creative and artistic method. Ian holds a Diploma in Graphic Design from Hornsey College of Art and MA in Special Needs Education: Autism and Aesthetics. He currently works as Art & Craft Tutor at Hoffmann Foundation for Autism Day Services in the UK. Up to date they have done over 40 presentations and exhibitions.
