Calling all photographers! Art Jameel comes to Bahrain
Are you a passionate photographer?
The British Council is proud to be partnering with Art Jameel to bring their prestigious photography award to the Gulf for the first time. Previously, the award has only been open to Saudi nationals but for this 6th edition of the award, photographers from Bahrain and the GCC are also being invited to take part.
We’re encouraging all talented photographers to apply for a chance to win a cash prize, develop their skills and exhibit their exceptional photography.
The theme of the competition this year is ‘Transitions’, reflecting today’s changing society.
Am I eligible?
Entrants must be 18 years and above and your photograph need to be taken using a camera (not a camera phone)
How do I take part?
If you want to take part, you should be able to produce a single photograph, or a series of photographs that capture transitions from social, conceptual, cultural, economic, personal or even technical perspectives.
When will I find out if I have won?
The winners will be shortlisted on November 15th, 2015 and the exhibition ceremony will take place on December 15th, 2015. Winners will receive cash prizes, the opportunity for residency and the chance to participate in Art Jameel’s activities in Saudi Arabia and abroad. If you win, your work will be promoted online and in print across the GCC and internationally.
Applications will close at midnight on 31 October 2015.

About Art Jameel
Art Jameel, one of Community Jameel’s Initiatives, fosters and promotes contemporary art and creative entrepreneurship across the MENAT region. In partnership with arts organizations worldwide, Art Jameel is developing two arts centres and cultural exchange programmes to encourage networking and knowledge sharing. Art Jameel is the founding partner of Edge of Arabia, The Crossway Foundation, Jeddah Art Week, and The Archive. In partnership with the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, it awards the biannual Jameel Prize for contemporary art and design inspired by Islamic traditions.
